This is a translation. The German version (Nutzungsbedingungen) is legally binding.
1. Provider and scope
TandemCafe is run by Yekta IT GmbH as named in the legal notice. These terms apply to the use of TandemCafe. Using TandemCafe is free of charge.
2. Account
You must be at least 18 years old to take part. Each person may have only one account. Your details must be correct; keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for everything that happens through your account.
3. Ads
In an ad you offer one language (or topic) and look for another. A tandem is mutual and free of charge: paid lessons, commercial offers and advertising are not allowed. Ads stay online for one year and can be extended. We review texts containing links or e-mail addresses before they appear.
4. How we treat each other
Be friendly and respectful. In particular, the following are not allowed:
- spam, advertising and chain letters,
- harassment, including unwanted flirting or dating requests,
- insults, hate and discrimination, for example because of origin, language, religion, gender or sexual orientation,
- fake profiles and pretending to be someone else,
- publishing other people’s personal data without their consent,
- illegal content.
5. Messages, blocking and reporting
You can write to other members via their ad or profile. If someone bothers you, you can block them: you will then no longer see or write to each other. You can tell us about violations via “Report”. To protect against spam, new accounts can start at most 10 new conversations per day during their first week.
6. Moderation
We may remove content and suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or the law. Where possible, we will let you know beforehand.
7. Meeting up
You arrange meetings at your own responsibility. Our tips: meet in a public place the first time, tell someone where you are, don’t share personal details too early, and never send money to people you only know online.
8. Your content
Your texts and photos remain yours. You allow us to show them on TandemCafe for as long as they are online. Only post content for which you hold the necessary rights.
9. Liability
TandemCafe is a free service; we do our best to keep it running smoothly but cannot guarantee it. We are not responsible for the content or behaviour of other members. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health; otherwise our liability is excluded as far as the law permits.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in your settings. We may end your use of TandemCafe with reasonable notice, or immediately in the case of serious violations.
11. Changes and applicable law
If we change these terms, we will inform you by e-mail in good time. German law applies; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
