Almost all tandem meetings are friendly and relaxed. These simple rules help keep it that way.
Before you meet
- Chat on TandemCafe first. Our messages do not show your e-mail address or phone number.
- Do not share your home address, bank details or ID documents.
- Look at the profile: “E-mail confirmed”, “Member since” and a few sentences about the person are good signs.
- A short video call before the first meeting is a good idea.
The first meeting
- Meet in a public place: a café, a library, a language café.
- Tell a friend where you are and when you will be back.
- Arrange your own way there and back.
- Trust your feeling – you can leave at any time.
Stay respectful
- A tandem is about languages, not dating. Unwanted flirting is not okay.
- No money, no sales, no advertising.
If something feels wrong
- Use Block – the person can no longer write to you.
- Use Report on a message, ad or profile. We check every report.
- In an emergency, call the police (112 in the EU).
