About Breton
Breton is a Celtic language spoken in Brittany in north-western France, closely related to Cornish and Welsh. About 200,000 people speak it, most of them older, and UNESCO classes it as severely endangered. It has no official status in France, but Diwan immersion schools have taught in Breton since 1977.
