About Ladino
Ladino, or Judeo-Spanish, is the language of Sephardic Jews whose ancestors were expelled from Spain in 1492 and settled mainly in the Ottoman Empire. Today an estimated few tens of thousands of people speak it, mostly older people in Israel and Turkey. UNESCO classes it as severely endangered; historically written in Hebrew script, it is now mostly written in Latin letters.
