Manx Gaelic is the Celtic language of the Isle of Man. Its last native speaker, Ned Maddrell, died in 1974, but a revival movement kept it alive, and today about 2,000 people have some knowledge of it. UNESCO now lists it as critically endangered rather than extinct; a Manx-medium primary school has existed since 2001.
